Blogger has been out all morning... and yesterday's post is still missing!
On to the latest happenings in the hockey world on this beautiful Friday the 13th. The San Jose Sharks were able to clinch game 7 and their ticket to a matchup with the Vancouver Canucks. Patrick Marleau got his redemption notching the game winner in a 3-2 final. Antti Niemi had 38 saves in the win. Pavel Datsyuk may have had the nicest goal of the night.... wow.
Saturday Tampa and Boston will start their series and Sunday the Sharks and Canucks will do the same.
At the World Hockey Championship, Canada lost to the Russians for a ticket to the medal rounds. Some are calling it a big disappointment. The Swed's put away the Czech's 5-2 for the bronze and as I write, Russia is down 1-0 to the Finnish squad.
Game 5 of the WHL finals goes tonight in Portland. Kootenay can clinch the series with a win.
The memorial cup festivities get under way next week. The event is in Missisauga this time around. Who will be representing the WHL? You would have to think all bets are on Kootenay...
In the OHL, the Mississauga St. Michaels are in a game seven Sunday vs the Owen Sound Attack. As it happened last year in the WHL, both teams will be heading to the Mem cup.... St. Mike's features Quinton Howden's world Junior teammate, Casey Cizikas and Head Coach Dave Cameron.
In the QJMHL, the St. John Sea Dogs are up 3-1 on the Gatineau Olympiques. They play have five tonight.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
