Warriors Knee Deep In Planning

As the Moose Jaw Warriors get ready on the ice for Thursday's regular season and home opener, off ice festivities are coming together as well.

Warriors Director of Business Operations Corey Nyhagen says the fun kicks off of with their annual season ticket holder BBQ tomorrow.

"Season ticket holders will find their voucher in their season ticket packages. As in similar years, they'll be able to come down, see the team, have a burger and a drink on the club, and just get a chance to get into the season as it starts off."

Non season ticket holders can get a burger and a drink for $5, it runs tomorrow, 5 to 7pm at Mosaic Place. The Western Hockey League announced Monday that the BBQ is being used by them as the official kick off to their opening weekend celebrations.

The BBQ is the start, Nyhagen says they're in the final stages of planning for the pre game festivities of Thursday's regular season opener.

"Everyone's excited to get to Thursday and really put on a heck of a show. Some of the stuff going in, we've been limited in the Civic Centre when it comes to stuff like pyro, fans are going to be able to see that here."

Nyhagen says they have a number of special guests scheduled to join them. "Our Member of Parliament for Palliser Ray Boughen will be here. The Minister of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport the honourable Bill Hutchinson will be here. We'll have Shelley Jones and Bill Deyo, co chairs of the Multiplex Builders Group on the ice as well."

"We want to really salute everybody that's come together that have helped this building happen and kick the season of right," added Nyhagen.

Warriors Hall of Famer's Mike Keane and Mark MacKay, along with last year's captain Spencer Edwards and WHL commissioner Ron Robison will also be in attendance.
