Among the invites are Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of the Red Deer Rebels who is the top-ranked North American Skater eligible for the draft, along with the second ranked forward Gabriel Landeskog the Kitchener Rangers, and Jonathan Huberdeau of the Saint John Sea Dogs who is ranked third overall by NHL Central Scouting.
The event gives NHL clubs a chance to evaluate the NHL's future stars less than a month before the 2011 NHL Entry Draft at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. The first round of the draft will take place on Friday, June 24 and the subsequent rounds (two through seven) on Saturday, June 25.
The 61 CHL players represents over 70% of all North American invites, with 28 players from the Ontario Hockey League, 19 from the Western Hockey League, and 14 from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
