WARRIORS WIN FIRST GAME OF ALBERTA ROAD TRIP IN LETHBRIDGE

Game Summary: Warriors at Hurricanes

The Alberta road trip started in a positive way tonight.
The Warriors took an early first period lead and rode that to 5-3 victory over the Hurricanes on Wednesday night at the Enmax Centre in Lethbridge.

Quinton Howden once again carried the offensive load for the Warriors. Howden recorded back-to-back four point nights which included another three goal performance. Similar to Saturday night in Moose Jaw against Prince Albert, the Warriors would build an early lead and hold on to collect the two points.

Eric Arnold got the scoring started in the first with Howden and Travis Brown getting the helpers. Howden would then score two straight both on the powerplay. One goal would come late in the first with just 12 ticks left on the clock. And then just 30 seconds into the middle frame, the Warriors would convert once again with the man advantage. Returning to his old home, Cam Braes would be credited with two assists on the second and third goals by the Warriors. Brody Sutter would answer, just before the midway point of the second, for the home team Hurricanes and in turn spoiling a shutout bid Warriors starting goalie Luke Siemens had going. Kenton Miller just seems to be coming through with timely goals as of late. With his 21st goal of the season tonight, Miller has scored four game winning goals in this latest stretch for the club. Brody Sutter and Sam Mckechnie would score for the Hurricanes to pull the Hurricanes within one. Howden would salt the game away with an empty net to give him the hat trick.

With the four point night, Howden was named the game's first star and with a pair of assists Cam Braes was named third star in a return to his former home. Kenton Miller also had a two point night with a goal and an assist. The Warriors were two for four on the powerplay and put 40 shots at the Hurricanes' net.

The Warriors next action is Friday night against the Calgary Hitmen. The last meeting, with the Hitmen at the Saddledome, saw the Warriors fall 5-2 on Friday January 13th. The puck drop is set for 8 p.m. CST. Follow all the action live on Country 100FM with James Gallo, the voice of the Warriors.
