The Warriors (31-14-5-1--68 points), clash with the Saskatoon Blades (31-19-0-1--63points) in another pivotal divisional match-up tonight. The Warriors and Blades play for the second time in seven calendar days. Last Friday, the Warriors began the weekend by edging the Blades 2-1 and holding onto the undefeated record versus their provincial rival this season. The Warriors are 3-0-1-0 in 2011-12 season against Saskatoon and 1-0-1 at the Credit Union Centre. Quinton Howden scored his 16th to tie the game. Kenton Miller scored the GWG with the man advantage with 20 seconds left in the middle frame to give his team lead to hold.
Two games in four days, the Warriors topped the Broncos again. This time the score was 5-2 on Saturday night at Mosaic. A four goal second period carried the Warriors to the win. Last night the Warriors came away with a victory increasing their lead over the Saskatoon Blades to seven. A 2-1 win at Mosaic Place also increased the Warriors home win total to 21. Quinton Howden and Kenton Miller scored for the Warriors while Luke Siemens made 29 saves in the victory. Tuesday night the Warriors travelled west to face their division rival the Swift Current Broncos. Luke Siemens returned to the net and blanked the Broncos 3-0. Siemens made 32 saves for his third shutout of the season.
The Warriors are 6-0-1-0 their last seven, collecting 13 of a possible 14 points. Over that seven game span, the club has scored 28 goals. Moose Jaw has the most wins in the WHL on home ice with 22 and a road record of 9-11-3. In their last 10, the Warriors record is 7-2-1-0. When leading after the first the Warriors are 18-1-2. That unblemished record was broken by the Hitmen Friday, Jan.13th. And when leading after forty minutes, they hold a record of 19-1-4. The one loss held by the Warriors when leading after 40 minutes was tarnished by the Pats on Dec. 9th, 2011. When the Warriors outshoot their opponent they have a 20-6-3 record. The Warriors have an 18-4-5-1 record in one goal games. The Warriors have the 7th ranked power play (22.7%) and the 9th best penalty killing (80.6%) in the league. The Warriors have been streaking as of late, in the right way. In their last seven games, the club is 6-0-1 collecting 13 of a possible 14 points. And speaking of streaks, Kenton Miller has three goals in three games, currently only one of two WHL players on some kind of goal scoring streak. Cam Braes leads the Warriors in scoring with 56 points in 53 games (28G, 26A). Luke Siemens is 4-0 in his last four starts with a shutout, his third of the season against the Broncos. The last time Siemens faced the Blades he allowed a single goal on 30 shots. Justin Kirsch has 32 points (14 goals and 18 assists) in 28 games as a Warrior. Quinton Howden continues his pursuit of a WHL milestone of 100 goals in his career, he needs just three. James Henry has a chance to reach two WHL milestones this season. Henry needs just seven points for 200 in his career and 10 games to have played in 300 regular season games. Captain Kendall McFaull will be two games shy this season of playing in his 200th WHL regular season game, as there is only 21 regular season games remaining in the 2011-12 campaign.
