WARRIORS DEFEAT BRONCOS AT MOSAIC

GAME SUMMARY: SWIFT CURRENT BRONCOS AT MOOSE JAW WARRIORS

The Moose Jaw Warriors finished the weekend collecting all four points possible and kept the winning streak alive. A 5-2 win over Swift Current at Mosaic Place on Saturday night also gave the Warriors their 22nd win on home ice. The Warriors have six wins and an overtime loss in their last seven games. The Swift Current Broncos were the latest team to fall during the current streak, twice. The Warriors also blanked the Broncos 3-0 in Swift Current on Tuesday.

Justin Kirsch continues to put up points as a member of the Warriors. With four more tonight, Kirsch has 32 points in 28 games wearing the black, white and red. Kirsch recorded a goal and three helpers to the way on the powerplay. Cody Beach and Cam Braes also had multiple point nights tallying, two assists and a goal and an assist, respectively.

The offensive explosion in the second launched the Warriors to victory. The Warriors scored four in the second period. Three goals came on the powerplay. Cam Braes scored his 29th on the season at even strength. Kenton Miller, James Henry and then Justin Kirsch all scored while the Warriors were on the man advantage. The Warriors fired 15 shots at the Broncos Groenheyde. Luke Siemens faced one shot in the period.

After one period of play the Warriors and Broncos were tied at 1-1. The Warriors struck first. Tanner Eberle scored his 7th goal of the season. Cody Beach assisted on the goal and also got involved in a tilt. The Broncos answered the Warriors goal with less than two minutes remaining in the first period on the powerplay. Coda Gordon scored his 20th goal of the season. Luke Siemens turned away six of the seven shots, while the Broncos goaltender Joe Groenheyde stopped eight of nine shots.

The barrage in the middle frame chased the Broncos goalie Groenheyde from the net; Austin Smith came in and made six saves. Taylor Vause added his 26th to his team leading goal total to add another for the Broncos in the third.

The Warriors will get a few days off before travelling to Saskatoon for a rematch next Friday. The next home game for the Warriors is Saturday when Prince Albert comes to the Band City.
