Tuesday Notes

Good morning,

Hope you are enjoying the day back from the August long weekend.  It was a beautiful weekend!

Morgan Rielly didn't have the long weekend off, he was busy at U18 Camp in Calgary.  Morgan is on team white, who has lost both scrimmage games 5-2 and 8-2.  Morgan is joined by two other WHLers on team white in Ryan Pulock (Brandon) and Nicolas Walters (Everett).  Morgan has one last scrimmage today at 11:30 to wrap up camp.  Check out the details at www.hockeycanada.ca

Quinton Howden will begin his quest for another World Junior appearance on Wednesday in Edmonton.  U-20 camp runs until Sunday.

Craig MacTavish has landed himself another coaching spot in Chicago with the Wolves of the AHL.

The New York Islanders are working at getting themselves a new arena.  The $400 million dollar venture is not looking too realistic at this point.  Joining struggling franchises like the Coyotes and the once Atlanta Thrashers, the New York Islanders, whose games draw the fewest spectators in the National Hockey League, failed to persuade voters to issue $400 million in general-obligation debt to boost attendance with a new arena.

The proposal to replace the 39-year-old Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, Long Island, was defeated 57 percent to 43 percent, according to the Nassau County Board of Elections.

Congrats to the Moose Jaw Miller Express, they beat Melville 14-3 last night, sending the Express to the WMBL East Final against the Regina Red Sox.  Get out to a game, great atmosphere and if you are missing hockey you can hear familar voices ringing over the PA from Chris Rasmussen and James Gallo.

Three weeks until the hockey season gets underway....WOW!  The week of August 15th will be the Seat Touring and Selection week.  After that, Training Camp starts on the 24th.

Warriors Director of Business Operations, Corey Nyhagen is over at the new facility today beginning to set up offices.  It will be a busy month of August.

Remember, August 19th and 20th is Hall of Fame Weekend; a great way to kick off the hockey season.  Call 694-5711 for more information.

Season ticket holders, watch for an important letter in the mail this week!
