Jordan Eberle and Rick Nash scored shootout goals to lift Canada to a 4-3 win over the United States in the qualification round of the World Ice Hockey Championship.
After Canadian goaltender James Reimer stopped Jack Johnson on the first shootout attempt, Eberle beat American netminder Ty Conklin with a backhand move. Reimer then turned aside Blake Wheeler and Nash lifted another backhand shot past Conklin to give the Canadians the extra point.
Brent Burns, John Tavares and Jason Spezza scored in regulation for Canada, which leads Group F with seven points. Reimer made 17 saves through overtime for Canada, which outshot the Americans 52-20.
