Alberta Weekend Game Summary

The Warriors dropped the first game of their Alberta road trip 6-2 in Calgary Saturday night. The Hitmen got on the board early in the first, yet the tribe would follow up with a goal from Antonin Honejsek. Another Hitmen goal would later lead into a 5 on 3 situation for the visiting team. No scoring would come during the two man advantage, but with .8 seconds on the clock; Dylan Hood would bury one to tie it up.


The second period was owned by Calgary; holding the Warriors to just 3 shots. Cody Beach would give the Hitmen a one goal advantage heading into the second break. The third period would not be in the Warriors favor. Three Hitmen goals, 2 on the power play would seal the deal for the home team. Thomas Heemskerk went 23/28 on the night, before being pulled for the final minutes of the third.

Day two of the Alberta road trip landed the tribe in Edmonton. The game would begin in the Warriors favor with an unassisted goal from Nathan MacMaster in the first. Three Edmonton goals in the second period would spark the home team. Warrior goalie, Thomas Heemskerk faced 42 shots in the match up. The Warriors were unable to capitalize on 7 power play opportunities. Captain Spencer Edwards gave the Warrior’s hope in the third after scoring on a penalty shot, bringing the tribe within one-- but the Warrior’s would not be able find the goal needed to tie it up. Oil Kings take the Sunday matinee 3-2.
