Svendsen Close To Returning

There's updates today from the Moose Jaw Warriors on their current injuries.

Sophomore defenceman Morgan Rielly didn't skate Tuesday in practice and is week-to-week with a lower body injury.

The backend has had to deal with a number of injuries this season, while up front the only forward who's out is overage import Sebastian Svendsen.

Head Coach Mike Stothers says Svendsen is close to returning. "He practiced full out today (Tuesday), and we have another practice tomorrow (Wednesday). I'm optimistic he'll be here for Thursday."

Svendsen has been out since October 10th when he was on the receiving end of a knee-on-knee hit from Prince George's Joshua Smith, who picked up a four games suspension for the incident.

"Really, the only discomfort he's feeling at this point is the brace itself which takes some time getting used to," said Stothers.

"Most guys don't like them, and unfortunately most guys don't stick with them, and unless you actually make sure he's that he's wearing it most guys will try to get away without it, which is always a problem and it's not just at the junior level it's at every level. He's going to have to wear it, he's going to have to get used it, but he's close, very close," added Stothers.

Joel Edmundson also didn't practice Tuesday, but Stothers says that they're hoping to have him on the ice today. Dylan McIlrath, who missed the last couple of games with an upper body injury, took part in practice yesterday.

The Warriors are getting ready for a three-in-three schedule this week which kicks off tomorrow in Regina with the first of two games against the Pats. Friday night tribe is back at home for the back half of their home and home with Regina. Saturday they head to Swift Current for the first time this regular season.

All three games can be heard on Country 100, as well as online at DiscoverMooseJaw.com and mjwarriors.ca. Coverage begins with the PreGame Show at 6:40pm all three night.
