Thursday Thoughts

The CHL Import draft wrapped up yesterday.  The Warriors selected a Swiss forward in Eric Arnold.  Here is how the rest of the day looked:

The Canadian Hockey League today announced the final results of the 2011 CHL Import Draft.
Western Hockey League Clubs selected a total of 25 players in the draft. The two rounds included a total of 62 players selected from 10 different countries.

Each team in the CHL is permitted to carry two European Import players each season. These players are selected annually at the Import Draft, with the order of selection rotating through each of the three leagues in the CHL using an inverse order of their final regular season standings from the 2010-11 season.

The way things sit right now, both Tony Honejsek and Sebastian Svendsen are protected under "20 year old status".... however, Honejsek most likely will not return to Moose Jaw and play with his HC Zlin team in the Czech Republic.  You can expect Sebastian Svendsen and Eric Arnold to be in attendance at camp as the Import players.

The wet weather is once again making things difficult for the Moose Jaw Multiplex.
It might cause the project completion to be delayed. The city was supposed to officially take the keys in early July-- but that date is looking to be delayed.

The outside landscaping and paving has been a big challenge due to the rain.  It could be near the end of July that the City is able to take over the building.... which means a later date for the Warriors to move into the new facility as well.

If you noticed yesterday when the full schedule was released, the Warriors will be kicking off the entire WHL season with the opening game!  We will be taking on the Wheat Kings for the home opener.  The game will be broadcasted by SHAW.

This weekend the Warriors Athletic Therapist, Curtis Amiot is tying the knot.  I will be MCing the event with Lee Jones--- and am looking forward to a great weekend.  Congrats to Curtis and Andrea!

Have a great and safe long weekend!
