NHL Gossip, Edmundson #47 and Multiplex Score Clock

Another rainy morning in the Jaw!

Hopefully the rain can let up for tomorrow when the first annual Hockey & Hearts Celebrity Golf Tournament will take place in Moose Jaw (orginally planned for Rouleau).

The Hockey and Hearts Celebrity Golf tournament was established to bring together the great Hearts of the local Hockey community, along with the talented and successful celebrities that inspire us!

The tournament was designed by the Rouleau Rink Revitalization committee as a fundraiser for the Rouleau Memorial Rink . The founding celebrity, Keith Aulie, has also chosen to designate one additional charity per year to receive partial proceeds from the tournament. In this inaugural year the Mandi Schwartz Memorial Bursary will be the designated recipient.

NHL Gossip
  • Have you heard Ryan Smyth wants to go back to the Oilers? Who knows if he will but he has put it out there.
  • The NHL Awards go tomorrow...Far East Movement and Dierks Bentley will be performing...
  • Craig Ramsay and Craig McTavish are reportedly both out of the running for bench boss of the new Peg team
  •  Ilya Bryzgalov is reportedly chatting the the Flyers-- after the goaltending ups and downs of Philly in the playoffs, do you think he will be a key element for the Flyers?
  • Who is your pick for NHL MVP? D. Sedin? Perry? St. Louis?
  • The Jack Adams Award is interesting.  Coach of the Year goes to who? Barry Trotz of Nashville (lead the Preds to first series win)? Dan Bylsma of Pittsburgh (lead Pitts to a 106 pt season with no Malkin or Crosby) or Alain Vigneault of Vancouver (brought home the President's Trophy... but not the Stanley Cup)
FROM NHL.COM:
A broader interpretation of the current rule governing head hits plus the sale and relocation of the Atlanta Thrashers to Winnipeg can both become official Tuesday at the NHL's Board of Governors meeting in midtown Manhattan.

While considered a formality at this point, the Board of Governors still has to give its stamp of approval for the Thrashers sale to True North Sports and Entertainment and relocation to Winnipeg beginning with the 2011-12 season. The transfer of ownership from Atlanta Spirit to True North Sports and Entertainment requires a 75 percent approval from the Board while relocation needs a majority approval.

True North Sports and Entertainment is purchasing the franchise for a reported $170 million, including a $60 million relocation fee.

If approved, the still unnamed Winnipeg franchise will play in the Southeast Division for one more season with the expectation it will be moved into the Western Conference starting with the 2012-13 season.

Have you heard Bob McKenzie ranked our own Joel Edmundson #47 in his mock draft.  Although it never works like this, the team picking 47th is the Florida Panthers in a trade from Montreal.  St. Louis has the 46th pick and Chicago the 48th.... Where will he be drafted?

Check it out, the video board is being assembled in the Multiplex.... http://www.pbase.com/impalass/moose_jaw_multiplex&page=60

Have a good one!
